Meditation and the Ego

We are increasingly and spontaneously awakening to our Higher Self (Soul) as the consciousness of all connected beings hits the tipping point. Awakening to the Higher Self is a function of moving from an unconscious state of awareness to a conscious state of awareness. In short, the Higher Self is awake and conscious as we can expand our awareness in the present moment.

We would think, that with the Higher Self coming to the forefront, life would get much simpler. Unfortunately, the opposite happens. A war for control begins as the ego, who has been used to being in charge, rails against the Higher Self. “Hey! I have been running the show until now. I got it all under control. This Higher Self is just going to bring chaos!!”

And so, it begins, the struggle for leadership. The ego will bring out the big guns in this war, using fear, the mind, uncertainty, and resistance to force us back in line. The Higher Self brings insight, awareness, peace, and loving-kindness. While being superior tools, the contributions from the Higher Self are softer and lack the resistance we are used to with the ego.

This is where meditation becomes a key to unlocking the transformation to the Higher Self. It is in meditation that we give the ego a chance to relax, reflect, and let go. The various forms of meditation increase awareness as thought slows down and stops. Through meditation, the ego slowly loses identity and takes its rightful place as a tool to expand awareness. At this point the ego stops the war and becomes the ally of the Higher Self, giving the Higher Self ample room to expand beyond the boundaries of the psyche.
